A donation of $700 was made to the Atlantic Fire Department by the West Central Iowa Regional Board of REALTORS® and the REALTOR® Foundation of Iowa. The fire department was chosen as the recipient because it serves the entire community. It will be used for some new equipment and programs. Members of the West Central Iowa Regional Board of REALTORS® (which includes Denison Realty, McCord Real Estate, Neppl Real Estate and A-1 Real Estate) recently donated $700 to the Denison Volunteer Firefighters Assn. This donation is a joint effort between the local council and the REALTOR® Foundation of Iowa. Every year, the Iowa REALTOR® Foundation contributes thousands of dollars to affordable housing programs, scholarships for bright, young Iowans, and promotes other programs across the state that keep Iowa an attractive place to live. Wanting to give back to the communities in which they work and reside, the local board and the REALTOR® Foundation of Iowa felt that area fire departments could use the funds to help with the maintenance & purchase of fire equipment. The REALTOR® Foundation of Iowa offers financial support to Iowans in need and organizations working to improve the quality of life for Iowans. There were four 5th grade classes in our region that participated in Project Jack this year. Students from Atlantic chose to give back to residents of Heritage House, a WesleyLife community. "I think this was a great opportunity for the students to experience something so positive while giving back to the nursing home and it's residents. The students had a great time there and would love to go back and visit again." - Principal James Northwick Students from Jamie Meyer's 5th grade class at Carroll Middle School created care packages for patients at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. The grant was one of 136 awarded around the state of Iowa. The students purchased books, games, cards and other items that will make a patient's stay in the hospital more enjoyable. A HUGE congratulations to our own Tracy Brus of Denison Realty on being named the 2016 REALTOR® of the Year at the Iowa Association of REALTORS® Annual Convention last week in Coralville. Tracy is currently a director for the West Central Iowa Regional Board of REALTORS® and is the incoming President of the association for 2017.
Our own Dale Gross of Meyer & Gross Real Estate in Atlantic received the L. Martin Lee Political Involvement Award recently at the 2015 Iowa Association of REALTORS® annual convention held at the Prairie Meadows Convention Center in Altoona. The prestigious L. Martin Lee Political Involvement Award recognizes an individual who has significantly advanced the legislative agenda of the IAR through political involvement. The Award was first presented in 2002, named after the Iowa Association of REALTORS® Chief Executive Officer at that time, L. Martin (Marty) Lee.
